Houlton Regional Hospital continues to assess the needs of our local community through surveys with other care providers. The survey used for our latest assessment is the Maine Shared Community Health Needs Assessment, which covered groups over the entire State of Maine.
The full results were distributed to all participants. County groups then met to prioritize the issues identified and an Aroostook County specific report was then shared with the results. These were identified to be:
- Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Weight
- Mental Health
- Substance Use
- Access to Care
- Older Adult Health/Healthy Aging
- Cardiovascular Disease
We were a host site for one of the County groups to evaluate the needs assessment. We also have an employee that sits on the Aroostook District Coordinating Council for Public Health that is taking the lead to address the Aroostook County health needs. Based on all of this information, our Board has implemented a plan to address these issues and that can be accessed using the following link: https://www2.houltonregional.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/2019-CHNA-implementation-plan.pdf
A paper copy can also be provided upon request.
