Dr. Griffin has been with Houlton Regional Hospital since 2005 at which time he started working in the Emergency Department. His medical career began in 1982 when he took a position as a medical laboratory technician in Franklin, NH after he graduated from a technical college in Claremont, NH. He then returned to school 2 years later and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado. Following this he went on to medical school attending the University of Colorado School of Medicine. In 1994 he completed his residency at the Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency in Augusta, ME and went to work in Greenville, ME . For 12 years Dr. Griffin provided the residents of the Moosehead Lake region with a full range of family practice services including Obstetrics. In April 2006, he decided to move his family to Houlton and accepted a full time position as an Emergency Department physician after he had worked some shifts in our ER.. In 2010 he accepted the role of Medical Director for the Emergency Department. In October 2016 he, additionally, took on the role of Medical Director for the hospital. Dr. Griffin still continues to work part time in the ED.
Dr. Griffin recently celebrated his 33rd wedding anniversary and has 6 children– 3 of whom are still living at home. When not at work Dr. Griffin enjoys working on his “farm” raising a few critters and fresh veggies. He, also, enjoys participating with his family in the many outdoor activities available in beautiful Aroostook County.
